Suction Control Valves control of fuel pressure inside the common rail, because they run extremely fine tolerances within internal moving parts, they can quickly become affected by contaminated fuel and dirt which in turn can cause the ECU to cause surging, hard starts & stalling as it tries to correct fuel pressure levels. 80% of common rail problems are due to the SCV.
