Up for sale is a GM PCV VALVE Sourced from the OE supplier made in Europe. And with a high temp Neoprene rocker cover gasket with a 3 year warranty.
Over time, the PCV VALVE diaphragm dries and breaks.
Once Torn through the diaphragm the engine gets unaccounted air mass flowing through the air mass sensor.
As a result, the engine can be difficult to start, unstable (especially at idle) can be misfiring, ore staling.
If a whistle is heard in the area of the rocker cover, then the diaphragm is torn.
GM HOLDEN only sells the valve cover assembly which cost $350.00
Replacement instructions:
Remove the valve cover.
Remove the valve crankcase ventilation (mounted inside the valve cover).
Remove the rocker cover, remove the cover and exchange the new PCV assembly.
Assemble in reverse order.
During the first run, after replacing the PCV assembly, the engine may not work steady
(This is due to the fact that when the PCV assembly was torn the ECU will need to reconfigure the computer, in accordance with the lambda probes that detect increases in oxygen content).
After replacing the PCV assembly it would need some time to adjust itself.
Allowed the engine to run for a while, switch off the ignition and start again, the engine must reach normal operation.
